Non-Toxic Lifestyle Recommendations
Detoxing has become so popular in the last 5 years. As a high-achieving woman, I want to optimize my health, among other things. It is so hard to filter through everything. So, here is my list of things I have looked into and decided to keep track of so far:
Pans – ditch teflon non-stick and opt for stainless steel, ceramic, and cast iron instead.
[YES] Staub cast iron with the enamel coating is my favorite.
[To try] Xtrema
[NO] Jean Patrique Cast Aluminium - I know it is aluminum and we have one, but the long term effects of aluminium are not studied yet, so it seems that the recommendation is to avoid it.
[Did not love] OurPlace. People love the aesthetics of ourplace's ceramic cookware, but we had ours for two years, and it lost its nonstick coating early in the second year. For how much it costs, it was not worth it.
Household Products
[To try] Branch Basics
[YES] DIY All Purpose Cleaner. This is ridiculously easy to make. I followed the recommendation from here to use equal parts water and vinegar. You can add essential oils to make it smell good, I haven’t. It is cheaper and cleans really well.
[YES] Seventh Generation dishwasher liquid
[YES] ECOS fragrance free dish soap. I swapped to this once we had a baby and use it for everything.
[YES] Attitude laundry detergent. The benefit of this is that we now use the same detergent for adults and babies.
Personal Hygiene
[YES] Attitude deodorant
[YES] Coconut oil instead of makeup remover. I also bring it with me to massages.
[YES] Think Baby Sunscreen
[To find] Nail polish and nail polish remover
[To try] Dr. Bronner’s body soap
[To try] Honest Company shampoo & conditioner
[To try] Tom’s deodorant
